Emeka Eneli
Emeka Eneli was named the Real Salt Lake (RSL) Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the 2024 season. This was voted by his teammates. Eneli started in 33 of 35 MLS games and was also named the youngest player in club history to wear the captain's armband. He is considered a key player for the team.
Emeka also made his US Men’s national team debut shortly after in an incredible first season as a professional
How to have more self-respect.
For me, it was the fear of the unknown...of not knowing what’s going to happen next week. Of not knowing whether I’m gonna come back (after injury)... The fear of not knowing whether I’m gonna be able to get another job....
The fear of disappointing my family and friends.... I provide for them and that was the fear.. of not being able to do that for them... I was fearing everything. Absolutely everything. It caused the biggest problem in my life, not just in Football. Like we always talk about. Fearing of getting the ball. Fear of giving the ball away. The fear of passing it back to your goalkeeper and somebody fucking nipping in and fucking scoring.”
Fear of everything.
“There are players that are struggling, they need help but it’s (a case of) how do you have that first interaction and conversation? Players will say “I don’t need help. I’m fine.” But they’re not because I can (now) see right through them.”
